By healing from C-PTSD you are opening the door to living a fulfilling life! This is an amazing step and doesn't have to be isolating. In fact, you can enjoy it with the rest of the world who are in the same situation.
Joining an online C-PTSD community was such a rewarding experience for me. Not only could I connect with people in the same situation, but there was so much LOVE to go around. Let me give you an example... with online communities, it is depressingly common to have "trolls" or haters. Yet, I am yet to meet one in the C-PTSD online communities! It really is a space for growth, love, and support.
What's more, often your recovery journey will leave you with huge changes in your life. Perhaps you no longer speak to certain family members or friends? Perhaps you’ve moved away from your home? Perhaps you’ve left your job? Learning to divert your energy away from toxic activities, people, and places and towards healthy ones is an important step to filling those voids.
Anyway, less chatting, more action... here are our top 5 online C-PTSD communities we recommend you join and why!
A C-PTSD Reddit Forum
This platform can be overlooked but it has some unfiltered nuggets of gold within certain forums. For example, on this forum, you'll see 10+ posts a day covering all sorts of issues that C-PTSD survivors struggle with. You'll also see countless reassuring comments on almost every single one of them... it's beautiful, really.
The C-PTSD Foundation Group
The C-PTSD foundation safe group is particularly cool because they screen everyone. That means, when you first submit the form to join, they ask you some questions to ensure you're there for the right reasons! That's especially great for anyone healing from C-PTSD because it's SO essential to heal in a safe community. The small downside is there's a $5 joining fee, but if you're going to use the community regularly, it's worth it! (P.S., this is not an affiliate link, just my opinion!)
C-PTSD Related Instagram Pages
This is my personal favorite because the content is easy to digest (it's short and sweet)! I also find it more engaging because you can see who you're talking with. The community I find myself engaging with the most is called @healing.and.cptsd which aims to shatter the isolation and shame around C-PTSD. Once there, you can find daily posts about C-PTSD, conversations within the community, and initiatives they're running!
Oh, and of course, you can follow our newly-built Instagram page @overcomecptsd! That's pretty cool, too!
C-PTSD-Focused Facebook Platforms
If you're not into Instagram and prefer Facebook instead, there are a few really great groups on Facebook. Again, you have to be "vetted" to enter, and the content is monitored by an admin so it really is a safe space! I've even made some life-long friends since arranging calls with some of the members!
Again, you can also follow our newly-built Facebook page!
C-PTSD Related YouTube Channels
Sounds like a bit of a strange one but... YouTube channels really helped me! Not only do the videos provide some epic tips, but the comments often elaborate on them. It's a nice way to not only interact with people but also to learn about C-PTSD. I recommend the Crappy Childhood Fairy, they throw out really engaging content and you can't deny... the name is pretty cool!
So, what do you think?
When you join a community, you'll be surrounded by individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact in the world. By sharing your story and connecting with others who have similar experiences, you'll gain a new sense of understanding and acceptance. You'll also have access to a wide range of resources, from support groups and workshops to educational materials and more.
But the real power of community lies in our collective ability to make a difference. By working together, we can raise awareness, challenge stigma, and create a world where C-PTSD is recognized and treated with empathy and understanding. Together, we can be the change we wish to see in the world.
So what are you waiting for? Join a community today and start making a difference in your own life and the lives of others. We're here to support you every step of the way.
